Unique Wildlife...
Fraser Island is unique in that it provides a number of different habitats for various species isolated from the mainland. The benefit of being isolated from the mainland means that animals such as the famous Fraser Island Dingo population are the purest found anywhere in Australia.
On Fraser Island's northern beaches the loggerhead turtles may sometimes be seen coming ashore to lay their eggs. The lakes also have fresh water turtles, or tortoise, however surprisingly few species of fresh water fish as the lakes pure water is so uniquely clean it prevents many species from surviving in its depths. |
